TOMATO CHUTNEY

Instructions

  • Chop 4 or 5 big tomatoes
  • Slit 20 chillies
  • Chop some coriander
  • Add little oil in pan
  • Add 1 big spoon peanuts
  • Add 1 spoon toor dal or chana dal
  • Add 1 spoon urad dal
  • Add 10 fenugreek seeds (menthulu) (aroma should some or else they will be bitter)
  • Add little asafetida
  • Add curry leaves
  • Add 1 spoon garlic paste or 5 crushed garlic cloves
  • Add 1 spoon cumin seeds (if not there, add cumin powder)
  • Add 1 spoon coriander seeds (if not there, add coriander powder)
  • Add chillies and mix them for 1 minute
  • Add tomatoes and coriander
  • Add some salt and turmeric
  • Add a medium lemon size tamarind
  • Put the lid on in medium flame
  • Take the lid off when tomatoes are almost cooked and turn off the stove
  • Cool it down and grind it and add water if needed anywhere in the process

Tadka

  • Add oil
  • mustard seeds
  • cumin seeds
  • curry leaves
  • 2 dry chillies
  • add it to the mixture and check salt

Notes

Tip: Add long sliced raw onions and diced onions to the chutney at the end after tadka for extra flavor. This is optional but the onions taste really good when added to chutneys.
